July Hiatus for Some Joyful Chaos

One of the enduring lessons I learned from our last pastor is, “Wherever you are, be all there.” Our eldest son and his family arrived in Michigan yesterday, our second eldest and his family moved from Europe back to the States yesterday, we just returned from an unforgettably awesome summer vacation with our third son and his family yesterday . . . and the rest of the family will be coming and going during July for a long-delayed family reunion before our son Jonathan’s family moves to Germany. It’s going to be some July! 🙂

I’ve long felt that a part of the “daily bread” the Lord has given me are little spiritual thoughts to share on this blog. Manna from heaven to my heart. But, spiritual thoughts take quiet time for reflection and meditation, which has largely been true of my life over the past several years but will not be true this month! With nineteen grandchildren plus parents gathering for our reunion, the chances of my survival are questionable, but the chances of my enjoying silent hours for spiritual cogitation are not. I am 100% sure I will be over my head just trying to figure out what we’re going to eat and do—and that includes all-hands-on-deck help from our kids’ ingenuity and energy.

Therefore, I am giving up. Not really. But, I am surrendering my passion for writing during the month of July. Trading it for my passion to love my children and grandchildren. However, Lord willing, I will resume my Travels with Allie tales ASAP after processing our summer vacation.

My hope is that a summer break from Summer Setting will also serve your needs, but if for any reason you miss my daily posts, I have 3,135 previous posts on this site from the past 13 years! If you’re interested in a particular topic, the easiest way to find posts on that topic is by typing key words into the search bar at the top, right-hand side of this page. Otherwise, all the posts are listed in some fashion on the sidebar at the right. They are listed under “Various Posts by Topics,” such as Aging and Retirement Issues, Biographies, Movie Reviews,” etc. If you want some light reading, try Cartoons and jokes, or Just for Fun… If you like travel, I’ve written 69 posts on Great Britain under R’n’R’s’n’B’n’B’s; Rambles and Reflections in Broadways and Byways (of Britain). But, I’ve also written about lots of places around the world as well as Travels in America and Michigan Beauty and Fun. All my posts are also listed in chronological order under “Archives of Past Posts.”

If you’re new to motherhood or caring for infants, try Bless Your Baby, which lists activities and ideas to help with each week in an infant’s first year. If you’re looking for Bible commentary, try Rise Up My Love, a daily-devotional style look into the Old Testament’s Song of Solomon, or The Commands of Christ, looking at the teachings of Christ in the New Testament. If you’re interested in cooking, I’ve listed all my personal favorites here: Recipes. Like to learn more about birds? Try this: A Few of My Favorite Birds.

Whether or not you stop by between now and August 1, please do try again August 1, as I hope to be “up and running” by then. I’m always available if you have anything special you’d like me to be praying about. You can reach me at my email address: kathrynwarmstrong@gmail.com.

Happy Summering and God bless you!

Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities; who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from destruction; who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfies your mouth with good things; so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s” (Psalm 103: 1-5).
