Jon and Gerlinde are spending 5 weeks in Africa. They arrived in Niarobi at the beginning of July.
For Linda, it’s been a bit of a return to her “home” territory, where she spent her earliest years as a “missionary kid.” She still loves the African roasted corn!
Jon, on the other hand, isn’t always sure what to make of the new taste treats!
Jon has been (and will be) teaching at the two evangelical seminaries in Niarobi and loving every minute of it!
On the weekends, though, they have been doing a little sight seeing and exploration.
Including enjoying some of the local specialties. Luckily, Linda is fluent in Swahili and knows what’s yummy (and likely stay down).
They’ve also been exposed to the local needs. In Niarobi, there is a slum of over 1 million people.
Thankfully, there are faithful children of God bringing good news and physical aid to the people. Here is one of the local pastor/missionaries, who showed Jon and Linda around.
Jon and Linda visited a local zoo.
They were overjoyed with how friendly the giraffes were…
Oops! I guess there’s always a learning curve in knowing how to live in a foreign culture!
Please pray for them: for wisdom, a fruitful ministry, and good health!
