The last time we visited our son, Michael, and his family in Hawaii,
we all sort of fell in love with SUPping (stand up paddle boarding). Mike and Grace are surfers, but that takes a lot of strength and practice, …and—surfing isn’t always possible in Michigan. However, on our little lake, the SUP makes for the perfect adventure,
not only for the brave and daring, but for all of us …even the smallest of cruise passengers! You don’t have to be young and svelte like Linda, either.
Even I enjoy our SUP! Of course, it’s not quite as romantic as an old-fashioned ride in our rowboat, but SUPs are relatively inexpensive, light, stable on quiet water, easy to handle, very transportable via car-top, and super fun for the whole family!
“Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
(The second and third pictures of Michael—surfing and in the snow—were taken by Brianna and Grace, two of my artsy daughters-in-law. Thanks, dears!)
