Looking for Fun? How about Trying The Hundred Foot Journey?

The_Hundred_Foot_Journey_(film)_posterLast week (May 6) I posted on “Food Fit for a Princess” and shared lots of pictures of the awesome food we ate on our Sapphire Princess Cruise last month, as well as a picture of our executive chef, Raggie Saldanha, who is from India. This little detail made one of the movies we saw on the cruise especially appealing and fun, so I thought I’d recommend it in case you’re looking for a family-friendly (PG) movie. Helen Mirren as Madame Mallory The Hundred Foot Journey, starring Helen Mirren, Om Puri, Manish Dayal, and Charlotte Le Bon tells the charming (totally fictitious) story of the Kadam family from Mumbai, India who lose their home and mother in a fire and consequently move to France, where they try to open a restaurant as a family business…

Om Puri as Papainadvertently across the street from Madame Mallory’s Michelin-starred gourmet French restaurant! Charlotte Le Bon and Manish Dayal in The Hundred Foot Journey The plot thickens when their second-oldest son develops a crush on one of the best chefs from their competitor’s restaurant. Manish Dayal as Hassan Kadam You might not be totally surprised by the happy ending, but it’s a rollicking ride with lots of dishes being served up along the way. Popcorn Add a bowl of popcorn, and you might have the right recipe for an evening of fun with your family sometime. 🙂

“If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.”

Dave and I saw this movie and we loved it – wonderful story about family and what is really important in our lives.

    • Thanks for that vote of confidence. I think it particularly makes sense to those of us who are already believers. 🙂
