This Christmas Alan really spoiled me! He gave me a macro lens for my camera.
I am having an unbelievable amount of fun inspecting the little things in life. It’s
given me a whole new way of looking at the world around me (like this teacup
and the toothbrush in a glass holder above)…as well as an appreciation for the
tiny things that I often overlook because I hardly see them. I mean, how often do
I really notice the design on our soap bottle,
or what the kids’ cribbage board looks like from the perspective of an ant?
I also love games…and I hope you do too! For instance, can you guess what this is? It’s the edge of a ribbon from the bow on a basket of sparkling juices and nuts that Lizzie and Chuck brought us for Christmas.
Well, I got to thinking about some of the little verses hidden away in the Bible that might be easy to overlook (like this cross-section of crystalized rock)
or so common (like our kitchen table) that we take them for granted. So, I’ve made a bit of a game out of pairing some wonderful promises from the Word of God with everyday items from around our home. I imagine you’ll be able to tell what most of them are, but I listed what they are at the end just in case, since I think all good games should have answers!
”Call to me, and I will answer you, and will tell you great and mighty things, which you have not known” (Jeremiah 33:3).
”I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go: I will guide you with my eye” (Psalm 32:8).
3. I will be a light for you.
“Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, ‘I am the light of the world: he that follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life’.” (John 8:12)
4. I will bless you.
”I command you this day to love the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statues and his judgments, that you may live and multiply, and the LORD your God shall bless you” (Deuteronomy 30:16).
5. I am for you.
“If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:31-32)
6. I will not fail you.
“As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not fail you, nor forsake you.” (Joshua 1:5)
7. I will provide for you.
“But my God shall supply all your need according to the riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).
“Seek good, and not evil, that you may live, and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you” (Amos 5:14).
“As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you” (Isaiah 66:13)
“Come unto me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
“Fear not, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God: I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you; yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness” (Isaiah 41:10).
“The LORD has appeared of old time to me, saying, “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn you.” (Jeremiah 31:3)
1. My mouth from a picture on our mantle 2. A picture of Abraham Lincoln’s eye from the Smithsonian Magazine on our coffee table 3. Candle burning on kitchen table within a pool of melting wax 4. DVD 5. Detail from a coaster 6. Base of Alan’s new brass lamp 7. Candy cane 8. Reflection of Joel in our tea pot 9. Stephen’s comfy blanket that was resting on our couch 10. Ruffle on one of our couch pillows 11. An orange 12. Inscription on a “Precious Moments” figurine on our mantle
I hope your 2013 is truly blessed, and that we remember all wonderful promises that God has given us in His Word! Thanks for walking with me!

Thanks so much, Jane!
Wow, that’s my next investment.Inspiring! Have a blessed year.
Thank you! You have a lovely blog, by the way!
Thank you so very much. Glad you stopped by. I’m working on my 2012 in Pictures right now, took a break, and read through yours. Nicely done.
How exciting to have a macro lens. You are certainly putting it to good use!
Thank you, Andrea! I hope so. I’ve been hoping for a sunny, snowy day to try it on snow flakes…but so far it’s either grey or rainy. I know it will be lots of fun over time, though!
