The weather has been so hot that one night Aaron decided to take us all for a walk to the Dairy Queen. They live in a lovely neighborhood close enough to the
town center for Reuben to ride his bike, Gideon to walk, Reid Solomon to enjoy
a stroller ride, and Baby Giles to ride all snugged up to Daddy. Their city is full
of wild horses this summer, and we caught sight of one. Lucky us!
Being one of
those hazy, lazy, crazy summer evenings, the DQ was the place to be, so it took us
a long time to get our treats, but they were definitely worth the wait! Aaron and
Carlie are super healthy, super careful in their diets, so they had the kids share
rather than stuff themselves with big desserts (where half of them get dumped or
end up dripping down the front of them anyway). We all got enough, had fun,
and even caught a few fire flies on our way home…a perfectly lovely outing!
“Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones that you have broken rejoice.”
(Psalm 51:8)
Sweet post. These are a few of my favorite things—family, flowers, and children. Plus, you had my favorite flower of all—the hydrangea.
Thought I’d share the pic of one of mine, if you don’t mind. God has blessed me with some strange soil to grow large ones. We enjoy them all summer.

(I love the way you have the photos in between the sentences. Really cool way to share life.)
Peace,

Your hydrangeas truly are a work of art…such a rich blue! Thanks for sharing!
Why thank you! They do grow quite large and deep, deep blue. They are in the perfect spot.
Awesome! I wish I had a DQ in a setting like that!
Ya, I have to drive about 3 miles at home in MI!
Cute! It looks like Carleen and Aaron are dancing while they are juggling the baby.
What a lovely outing! We have a DQ close-ish, but we do still have to get in the car.
