I hope you all have a fabulous day celebrating with your family!

However, Alan’s only sister just passed away yesterday, and so this is a very hard Mothers’ Day for us. My heart goes out to all you dear mothers out there who have lost a child, and for all you dear children out there who have lost a mother…or are losing a mother…

If you’re in need of some comfort over the prospect of losing a loved one, or grieving the loss of a loved one, you might find that the song below will cheer your heart even if your eyes fill with tears. It’s a song about losing a loved one, called “Four Days Late,” and based on the account of Lazarus and the interaction between Jesus, Mary, and Martha. It wasn’t actually my own mother’s favorite song, but that’s how it’s posted on the blog I’d like to share, and I thought it might be a fitting song for any who might be grieving on Mother’s Day.

My Mom’s Favorite Song!

God “comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God” (2 Corinthians 1:4)

  1. Our hearts are aching for all of you, it is so hard when someone so full of life and had so much to live for goes so soon. But just knowing she is in our heavenly Fathers arms and free from all that horrid pain is a blessing. We were so pleased to have seen her last year and to have time to visit and remember our childhood days. It was like God knew her time on earth was short and sent her on a trip to say hello and goodbye to all her family and friends. So now we pray that all her family, us included, will find comfort in remembering her free from pain and smiling down on us, and we will feel her on a soft breeze and a flower opening just as she said.
All our love and prayers, Phyl and Oren

    • Thank you, Phil. Amen. I’ve often thought what a blessing her big trip around the country with Frank was…perfect timing before any of us had a clue that we’d lose her.

I can hardly believe it. I’m so very sorry. I know you guys will miss her deeply, but I’m so thankful for the wonderful hope that you’ll all be reunited.

    • Thanks, Andrea. We’re all feeling very sad, but you’re right…”we sorrow, but not as those who have no hope.”

  3. I’m so glad you and Alan got to see her. I’m very sad for all the family, but glad that her trials are over now.
